LINKEDIN

Website Redesign

LinkedIn is a social network for business professionals to post, share and connect. With over 500 million users LinkedIn is always in need of new talent to help grow the company and improve the application. The LinkedIn Student Careers website was initially created to attract current and recently graduated college students to join the company. As branding and photography has been updated, the site needed to be refreshed and appeal to a larger global audience and help recruit new talent in a highly competitive environment.

My Role

Senior UX Designer

My Challenge

LinkedIn microsites are created with predesigned software and therefore have specific visual limitations. While there was new photography produced by the design team, there were international corporate photoshoots in progress and getting access to the finished photos was difficult given the task and the proposed deadline. New photography showing diversity and highlighting international opportunities with LinkedIn was crucial to the task at hand.

Method

Meet with the Talent Acquisition team to find out where the pain points of the current website were, timeline for the project and any technical limitations since this would not involve the engineering team. Once I had all the background information and the questions at hand I began to gather content, visual assets and begin brainstorming what specific aspects of the redesign would make the website more appealing to college age viewers and people not familiar with LinkedIn as a company.

Result

New photography featuring LinkedIn diversity and hand drawn illustrations gave the website an updated look and would appeal to potential employees looking for a fun work environment while highlighting the culture and benefit of working at LinkedIn. Both design and talent teams were happy with the end result. As of today, the microsite software has seen been updated and the Student Careers Website has been redesigned.
